Because of<\/span> the hiring challenges managers have been facing the last couple years, it\u2019s become harder to find the right employees and make the right hire to help grow your team. <\/span>Since December 2018, the unemployment rate has hovered below 4%, with an all-time low record for the first time in 50 years.\u00a0<\/span>Fewer workers are available for job openings, making the demand much higher than the supply. In that time, managers must come up with a job description and are often responsible for advertising the open position on\u00a0<\/span>a job board. Once job seekers have been identified,\u00a0<\/span>the interviews begin. Ideally, at the end of\u00a0<\/span>this process, you\u2019ve made a good hire.\u00a0<\/span>Unfortunately<\/span>\u00a0it\u2019s not always that straight forward, as many hiring managers will attest to.\u00a0<\/span>Sometimes candidates fall off\u00a0<\/span>during the interview or get another job, forcing the process to start over again.\u00a0<\/span>Often the process can take longer, as not every restaurant has a person solely dedicated to hiring.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Another factor to consider when you want to find the right employees is the <\/span>cost<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>taking into account<\/span>\u00a0actual money spent as well as the time spent by employees on the hiring process<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>On average, the cost of hiring an hourly worker is\u00a0<\/span>between $3,000 and $4,000.\u00a0<\/span>If you<\/span>\u00a0have\u00a0<\/span>several open positions, it can cost over $10,000 to staff your team.\u00a0<\/span>Currently turnover in the res<\/span>taurant industry is 70%, making the need to carefully assess candidates and ensure they\u2019re a great fit for the position\u00a0<\/span>key in retaining employees<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
