Applicants hold a variety of positions ranging from technology, to farming, to hospitality. Businesses across the country rely on these workers to round o<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ut\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">their teams, often during busy season<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">(typically\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">experienced by hotels and restaurants<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">).\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\" data-wac-het=\"1\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><strong>Visa Processing in 2020<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">With the coronavirus\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">pandemic\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">forcing many to shelter in place<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0for the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">foreseeable<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0future, there\u2019s an air of uncertainty surrounding\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">visa processing and if they\u2019ll be processed as normal or put on hold<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0until travel becomes safer.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">So far there\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">have been var<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ious regulations<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0put<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0in place\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">for visa processing this year \u2013 see below: <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\" data-wac-het=\"1\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"1\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">While it\u2019s not fully suspended, Exchange Visitor Programs are strongly encouraged to postpone ALL program start dates for 60 days after March 12, 2020. This applies to all countries.<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"1\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">On March 20, 2020, U.S. embassies and consulates suspended all routine immigrant and nonimmigrant J1 visa services. Routine visa processing services will resume as soon as possible, but a specific date at this time cannot be provided.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"2\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"3\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The State Department said<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0on<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0March 19 it would keep processing visas for seasonal workers, after earlier saying it would suspend routine visa services in most countries indefinitely.\u00a0(<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/u-s-keeps-processing-seasonal-worker-visas-after-warning-from-farmers-11584652889\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Source<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">)<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233279&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\" data-wac-het=\"1\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"2\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"4\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Every year more than 200,000 foreigners get temporary permits (H2A Visas) to work in agriculture across the U.S. Recently the U.S. closed a prominent consulate in Monterrey leaving American farmers scrambling.\u00a0(<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.motherjones.com\/politics\/2020\/03\/mexico-farms-h2a-visas-produce-coronavirus-us\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Source<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">)<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233279&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\" data-wac-het=\"1\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"2\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"5\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">On March 20, 2020, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced the immediate and temporary suspension of premium visa processing service for all Form I-129 and I-140 petitions until further notice. The Form I-129 is required to receive an H-2B visa which allows foreign nationals to come to the U.S. to fill temporary nonagricultural jobs. The lottery comes only once a year and companies, including those less damaged by recent events, may look to a time when the economy returns to normal.
