This time last year<\/span>, hotels would\u00a0<\/span>soon be entering the\u00a0<\/span>holiday season, preparing to house travel<\/span>er<\/span>s from around the world as they celebrate with their\u00a0<\/span>friends<\/span>\u00a0and families.\u00a0<\/span>Unfortunately \u2013 as it has with most of our 2020 plans \u2013 the coronavirus\u00a0<\/span>has all but made holiday travel i<\/span>mpossible<\/span>\u00a0with\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0continuation of new COVID cases across the U.S.\u00a0<\/span>In fact,\u00a0<\/span>a recent report<\/span><\/a>\u00a0shows that\u00a0<\/span>\u201ct<\/span>his summer, online searches for \u201choliday travel\u201d decreased by 43% from 2019. \u201cChristmas travel\u201d is down by 46%, and “Thanksgiving travel\u201d is off 38%.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

T<\/span>he hotel industry has\u00a0<\/span>taken a huge financial hit from the pandemic,\u00a0<\/span>having lost\u00a0<\/span>\u201c<\/span>more than\u00a0<\/span>$46 billion<\/span><\/a>\u00a0in room revenue\u201d since mid-February.\u00a0<\/span>Because it\u2019s estimated that\u00a0<\/span>holiday-goers will travel less,\u00a0<\/span>hotels should\u00a0<\/span>be\u00a0<\/span>consider<\/span>ing how\u00a0<\/span>they can continue to bring in revenue the next several months if they hope to keep their doors open.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Attracting Locals to Your Hotel<\/strong><\/h5>\n

One great way to bring in guests without relying on tourists is by attracting locals to your hotel<\/span>.
