In the\u00a0ever-evolving\u00a0world of work, staying competitive means being up to date on trends, especially regarding technology.\u00a0Technology is critical to continuous improvement,\u00a0which is probably why\u00a0<\/span>Gartner<\/span><\/a>\u00a0predicts companies worldwide will make an IT expenditure of $3.9 trillion in 2021, up 6% from last year.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tech in the Hospitality Industry<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Most\u00a0hospitality\u00a0businesses\u00a0have been relying on some type of technology for years.\u00a0Point-of-sale systems, reservation platforms,\u00a0and food delivery services are just a few of the\u00a0technologies often utilized\u00a0in the industry. And once\u00a0the pandemic brought health and safety concerns to the forefront, tech\u00a0offerings became even more popular and necessary at restaurants. Now, it\u2019s not\u00a0at all\u00a0uncommon\u00a0to go to a restaurant or bar that\u00a0only accepts credit cards\u00a0or has all their menus online.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Implementing hospitality technology into your business\u00a0can be an effective way to stay competitive and create a great experience for your guests.\u00a0But in order to ensure you\u2019re spending your money wisely, it\u2019s\u00a0important\u00a0to understand\u00a0how\u00a0the tech impacts operations, which is why feedback on hospitality technology is critical.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At LGC,\u00a0we\u00a0utilize a staffing\u00a0engagement tool called LGC Now<\/a> that allows us to automate some of the manual tasks often associated with staffing. Earlier this year, we conducted a poll of gig workers and internal LGC employees to get feedback on hospitality technology and what was working for them. Their feedback confirmed we made a smart investment, but it also brought to our attention that there were areas for improvement. And in learning those areas of improvement, we were able to make necessary changes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How to Get Feedback on Hospitality Technology<\/strong><\/h5>\n

If you utilize technology at your bar, restaurant, or hotel,\u00a0getting feedback is critical. How else will you understand whether it\u2019s a good tool for your staff and\/or customers? Even something as simple and standard in a restaurant, like a ticket printer in the kitchen, could be improved\u00a0upon\u00a0if it\u2019s not working as efficiently as it should.\u00a0Here are a few tips for how to gather feedback on the hospitality technology you use\u00a0at your business:\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Ask your employees.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0Simply put, but one of the best ways to understand how well the\u00a0technology works is to ask the people who use it the most.\u00a0Consider conducting a questionnaire or holding an all staff meeting once per quarter to make sure\u00a0everything is working how it\u2019s supposed to. Take feedback seriously and make any necessary changes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Stay up to date on what other restaurants are doing.\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Being unique is important, but so is being aware of new technologies and trends.\u00a0Use relevant industry\u00a0publications like\u00a0<\/span>Hospitality Technology<\/span>\u00a0or the LGC blog to keep up on\u00a0what types of technology other people are using and whether they could improve your business.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Keep the conversation open with guests.\u00a0<\/span><\/b>For the tech\u00a0platforms\u00a0that customers use,\u00a0like electronic menus or payment systems,\u00a0you\u2019ll want to keep the conversation open regarding\u00a0whether\u00a0they\u00a0find it useful.\u00a0Because if it\u2019s not working for them, then what\u2019s the point?\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Taking feedback on hospitality technology is critical for growth. Without input from the key parties using the technology, you won\u2019t be able to fully understand how it\u2019s being used and how well it\u2019s working.
