Like the ebb and flow of the tides, the water signs of the zodiac—Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces—beckon us into a world where emotions run deep, intuition reigns supreme, and empathy knows no bounds.
As an element, water is the natural flow of things. All water eventually ends up being recycled throughout the Earth. It comes and goes, much like our emotions. It’s no surprise that these signs flow through their emotional reactions much like water would: it’s a continuous cycle.
An overwhelming majority of water signs end up as artists of some sort. If you think about what informs the best art pieces, it takes being deeply connected with your feelings to express that through shape, form, and color. Creativity is a strength of the water signs along with curiosity and problem solving.
Let’s dive into our job picks for these signs!
Cancer (June 21 – July 22)
The moon is known for its feminine, emotional nature. As the ruler of the crab, the moon informs much of the strong maternal nature of Cancers.
If this is your sign, you’re likely very family oriented, non-confrontational unless someone you love is threatened, empathetic, cautious, and intuitive. You probably have a keen sense of “home” and don’t like to leave it. Or, you don’t have a sense of home and so you look for it in various places.
As the cardinal water sign, your leadership qualities take shape through how you engage in expressing your emotions. You probably find yourself naturally falling into caretaker, host, or parental roles. With this in mind, you would be greatly suited to a career in social work, counseling, human resources, or hospitality (catering, serving, bartending, etc.).
Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)
Represented by the scorpion, you are often mistaken for fire signs because of how you “strike” seemingly out of nowhere. Don’t misunderstand, you’re not aggressive like a fire sign. You simply know how to play your cards, so you never lose.
Because there are so many misconceptions about Scorpios, you have great empathy and understanding for the people who need it most. You’re very loyal to people who have earned it and are deeply invested in finding out how people work to understand them. You’re always one step ahead, calculating, trying to figure out what your next move is.
You would fare well in a career where you can make your gears turn through problem solving. Drawn to fields that offer you independence and projects you can laser focus onto, detective work, forensic science, astrology, or music therapy might suit you best.
Pisces (February 19 – March 20)
Do you march to the beat of your own drum? Prefer fantasy to reality? You’re probably a Pisces. You are ruled by the planet Neptune, which governs dreams, creation, and illusions; so, no wonder you invest so fiercely into the dream world.
Pisces means “fish” in Latin and is represented by 2 fish swimming in opposite directions. Since you’re so in touch with your emotional self, you might have a bit of trouble balancing this with your physical self, so you might feel pulled in two different directions.
As a Pisces, you have one of the strongest empathetic tendencies of all the signs. You care about everything and hold the imagination of the world in your hands. Therefore, you would make a beautifully suited artist, fantasy author, veterinarian, yoga instructor, or astronomer.
In the battle between head and heart, for these signs the heart will win every time. Being intimately connected with your emotional self is a huge strength in the workplace and will allow you to understand other people’s emotions better as well.
