Like the soil and stone that make up the layers of the planet we call home, the Earth signs are solid, stable, and unwavering. They are extremely grounded, unlike some of their other elemental counterparts, which means they don’t often give into their egos.
In our zodiac career series, we are analyzing the personality traits of each sign and matching them with a group of careers that they would succeed in. Last week we talked about the fire signs known for their passion and leadership qualities.
Compared to fire, air, and water, Earth is a corporeal element, it means something to us because we can touch it, hold it, and it makes up the very ground we walk on. The 3 signs dominated by this element are Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn. As you can imagine, these signs express Earth-like characteristics.
As such, let’s dive into the job picks for the Earth signs.
Taurus (April 20 – May 20)
The word “Earth” is reminiscent of the color green. For a Taurus, think of a soft, pastel spring green color, or aura, if you will. Like the solid, stable nature of the element, this sign is very grounded in the natural world. Unlike Aries who come before them, they don’t need to jump into everything they do with the speed of a flame, instead they take their time. “Slow and steady wins the race” is the phrase that best defines a Taurus.
As they are ruled by the planet, Venus, they are the most sensual of the zodiac. They love living a life of luxury and comfort, but they’re also a sturdy Earth sign so they know the value of hard work and aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty.
Tauruses have a knack for the arts and use their eye for beauty and aesthetic to their advantage. They would thrive in a career in beauty, fashion designing, music, or any of the visual arts. They are also extremely pragmatic, so a career in banking or investments would hold their attention for a long time. This sign also loves a slow life of luxury, so getting into the golf business or being able to connect with nature through agriculture or being a chef would be ideal.
Virgo (August 23 – September 22)
A Virgo emulates a dark, rich green that is equally as vibrant as it is soothing and calm. They are the most analytic and perfectionistic of the zodiac. They tend to work like a computer, all about input and processing and love organizing.
Ruled by the planet of communication, Mercury, this sign is honest, practical and helpful in their communication. They are team-oriented and enjoy working with other people or animals.
With their analytical nature, Virgos are highly suited to the business industry. A career as an analyst in market research, finance, stock, or any of the sciences would satisfy their logical thought process. Due to their love of helping people, many end up in the medical field as nurses, doctors, physical therapists, or psychologists. Their attention to detail would also fare well as a publisher or editor.
Capricorn (December 21 – January 20)
Capricorns radiate a seafoam green type of energy which is ideally matched since they are represented by the mythological sea goat. If Virgos are the perfectionists, Capricorns are the “overachievers” of the zodiac. They set the bar high, achieve those expectations, and leave you awestruck.
Unlike their Earth siblings, Capricorns are the cardinal sign which means they have the same drive of an Aries but go about achieving their goals differently. What’s surprising about these fun-loving sea goats is that they are all business most of the time, but they’re very known for their wild side. In tarot, they are symbolized by the “devil” card, so though they might seem stoic at first, get to know them and you’ll have a blast.
These goal-oriented people are model workers. They’re high achievers and tend to look for a career path that will span their lifetime, but where they can still move up and feel a sense of achievement. A career in education as a teacher or nursing will satisfy their love of inspiring people. The more organized and analytical Capricorns will thrive as a realtor, a lawyer or something in the field of law, an accountant, or something in IT like a programmer.
Much like their ruling element, Earth signs are some of the most reliable workers you’ll have. They help build and inspire your organization in meaningful ways. They will thrive in any position where they feel like the work understands the way their brain works.
