EnviroStaff Attends the 51st Missouri Waste Control Coalition (MWCC) | A Reflection by Damien Flaherty

EnviroStaff is composed of recruiters with extensive experience in the environmental industry. We source future leaders for our client companies, including environmental laboratories, consulting firms, manufacturers, and environmental instrument and equipment companies. As a division of LGC, staying updated on industry trends is crucial for our team to deliver successfully for our clients and candidates. We asked the head of the division, Damien Flaherty, to reflect on his recent professional development opportunity.

This past week, EnviroStaff attended and participated in the 51st Missouri Waste Control Coalition (MWCC) conference in the Lake of the Ozarks. We heard from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and sustainability leaders like Chet Sisk and Dan Hoy about how they are implementing sustainable initiatives in their business practices.

Learning about the latest methods for testing PFAs and PCBs, best practices for safely disposing and destroying waste, and the most impactful ways to implement various sustainability strategies helps us stay current with the skills and knowledge our clients seek.

We were inspired by stories and case studies, such as the presentation on remediating pollution at a Superfund site and redeveloping it into an operating mine and non-smelter cobalt processing plant for battery production. Additionally, we learned about new sustainability strategies being implemented nationwide, from living wage compensation for outfitters and replacing plastic bags with paper to energy-efficient improvements in warehouses and transportation options.

Chet Sisk’s call to action for sustainable waste management processes was particularly impactful. He emphasized an integrated approach that requires action from everyone. As an environmental staffing solution, we witness this passion firsthand in individuals seeking careers dedicated to making a difference. Being part of this widespread solution brings us hope and inspires us to work harder to find problem solvers within our practices.

The MWCC was a great experience for us at EnviroStaff, and we look forward to implementing the insights we gained into our recruiting techniques. As industry thought leaders, we stay updated to provide the best staffing experience for you and your team.
