At LGC, we’re inspired by stories of career development and success—especially when it comes from our own employees. In our blog series, LGC Stories, we highlight how members of our team have advanced and what motivates them to work their hardest. While LGC is like a tree with many branches, no matter your role, we’re all connected and support each other’s growth. We hope this series inspires you to either join our team or further develop your own LGC story.

LGC Stories | Meet Rachel Martin, Executive VP of Operations

Over her 14 years with LGC, Rachel Martin has diligently worked her way up from Staffing Manager to Executive Vice President. As one of our longest-tenured team members, she’s weathered countless staffing seasons, earned her place, and inspired others along the way.

Rachel grew up in the historic town of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, and attended Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, where she earned a degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Forensics. Initially, her dream was to work in the Illinois State Police Forensics department, but after graduating in 2010, she discovered her true passion—working for LGC.

She began her journey as an Assistant Staffing Manager in St. Louis and was quickly promoted to Branch Manager. In this role, Rachel had the opportunity to travel between offices, leading training sessions and playing a key role in enhancing LGC’s operations.

Her hard work didn’t stop there. She was promoted to Area Manager, overseeing three offices: St. Louis, Denver, and Atlanta. Then, in 2015, a big change was on the horizon—Rachel relocated to Indianapolis, where she was promoted to Vice President of Operations and later joined our Executive team.

As Executive VP, Rachel takes great pride in her role and the work she does to keep the company moving forward. She says:

“I am proud of the role I hold and how I help assist the company in everything operations to keep us moving forward.”

Like any professional journey, Rachel’s climb hasn’t been without its challenges. She believes that mistakes are an inevitable—and valuable—part of the process, helping us learn and grow. She offers this advice:

“As you grow in your role, it gets harder, but it’s more rewarding when you succeed. My advice? When things feel tough, that’s when you have the greatest potential to grow.”

Of course, it helps to have a strong team behind you and mentors to guide you along the way. Rachel credits George Lessmeister for playing a pivotal role in her growth:

“[He] has been one of the best mentors in my current role. He’s taught me everything I know about business and how to be a leader.”

Outside of work, Rachel enjoys spending time with family and friends, trying new things, being outdoors, binging Netflix series, and doting on her chihuahua, Rylie. She’s also a huge Taylor Swift fan and proudly displays an entire wall of Funko Pops in her office.

At LGC, we’re continually inspired by the leaders who shape our company and nurture our teams. Rachel has played an integral role in helping LGC grow into who we are today, fostering the growth of countless individuals along the way. Let Rachel’s passion and determination inspire you to grow within your role—or, if you’re ready, join our team and start your journey with LGC!
