Since we were founded in 2003, LGC has been a staple in the temporary staffing space, particularly in the hospitality industry. In that time, we’ve partnered with hundreds of clients to help solve their staffing challenges and thousands of workers to bring them great employment opportunities. But temporary staffing is just one slice of the pie that makes up LGC. We’ve also built a division dedicated to direct hire placements called the Permanent Placement Team.

What is LGC’s Permanent Placement Team?

Before we meet the incredible professionals behind LGC’s Perm Team, it’s important to understand what exactly the team does. One of the services LGC offers is permanent placement, which is when a client partners with us to directly hire a candidate we’ve sourced for them. During this arrangement, LGC’s executive recruiters will carefully vet and screen candidates to make sure they meet the requirements you’ve provided for us.

One of the biggest benefits for clients who utilize our permanent placement service is that we have a team fully dedicated to sourcing and recruiting candidates. We can spend as much time and resources as necessary to find the right person to fill your open position(s). This includes carefully vetting their experience and making sure they’ll fit in well with your culture and current team. Plus, LGC’s nationwide network of hospitality professionals means that clients can tap into a diverse talent pool they may not have had access to before.

Now that we know what LGC’s perm team does, we can get to know the hardworking team behind making these expert matches. We sat down to ask them a few questions so we could learn more about them. First up is Sean Hoover, the team’s leader and general manager:

Meet LGC’s  Perm Team

Sean Hoover
General Manager | Perm Division
LGC employee since November 6, 2012

What were you doing before you heard about LGC?
“I was in between jobs. Waiting tables and picking up gig work. My mom worked for LGC and introduced me at the time.”

Talk briefly about your LGC journey:
“I was originally hired as a temp bartender/server in 2012. Clients loved me. And the branch manager in Denver at the time saw some strengths. A client wanted to hire me on, but I was approached by LGC about working part-time in the office. I was working Saturdays, staffing for baseball games. Things progressed from there. Working all positions within staffing, senior management, etc. I was offered the chance to officially launch the Perm division in 2018. And it has taken off from there! I hope to continue to grow the division and my career. Like they say, shoot for the stars.

What past work experience or characteristics do you have that make you successful on the perm team?
“My ability to communicate with people. I am also a full fledge restaurant person. So, I understand what clients and candidates want.”

What’s the best piece of advice you have for job seekers?
“Seek opportunities, not just a job. And if you truly feel it is going to be worth your time, stick with it.”

What’s the best piece of advice you have for businesses who are hiring?
“Do not be afraid to step outside the box. Sometimes the best people are the ones that you take more of a risk with. Also, move quickly. We are in a time where the drawn-out hiring processes are no longer a thing.”

What’s a fun fact or something you want people to know about you?
“I love Beyonce. Music in general is the soul of my life.”

Martha Imoniana
Senior Executive Recruiter | Perm Division
LGC employee since February 8, 2021

What were you doing before you heard about LGC?
“I was a Graduate Assistant at Missouri Baptist University. I was pursuing my Master’s in Business Administration and I was responsible for recruiting new athletes for the following season, developing scouting reports, and assisting the women’s basketball head coach.”

Talk briefly about your LGC journey:
“I started my journey at LGC as an Executive Recruiter with the Perm Division, a role that I previously occupied with a financial expert network company, so it was a big change for me to dive in the hospitality industry. Although it has been an amazing experience, I have learned so much from my LGC colleagues and I am excited to see the Perm Division excelling in 2022.”

What past work experience or characteristics do you have that make you successful on the perm team?
“Having been a research associate before made me learn great ways to find professionals and allocate them to new positions. My sports background also helped me maintain my focus and relentless mindset to achieve my goals at LGC.”

What’s the best piece of advice you have for job seekers?
It would be to believe in your qualities and assets; Each professional went through different experiences and difficulties, molding their personality, their strength and making them unique. And that uniqueness could be valuable to many businesses.”

What’s the best piece of advice you have for businesses who are hiring?
“It would be to consider candidates according to their experiences and developed skills instead of the number of classic qualifications they meet. Many times, a professional occupied an associated position, although the environment that was provided to them was equivalent to a managerial position, meaning that on paper they would not meet a certain qualification but in reality, they are overqualified.”

What’s a fun fact or something you want people to know about you?
“I was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil.”

Carson Jones
Executive Recruiter | Perm Division
LGC employee since June 30, 2021

What were you doing before you heard about LGC?
“I was in a career transition. I was previously with Hilton as a housekeeping manager.”

Talk briefly about your LGC journey:
I was hired on as an Executive Recruiter in the summer of 2021 and absolutely love it. I’ve always wanted to dabble in the recruiting field of hospitality because I love connecting people with their next adventure and figuring out what people are passionate about. I see myself continuing to work for this ever-growing company and wanting to continue to produce my best.”

What past work experience or characteristics do you have that make you successful on the perm team?
“In my previous job, I thrived on collaboration and communication – I always wanted to further improve how I could work with my peers and what would be the best result for the team. Figuring out who had the best practice on working on a project, understanding from them so I can continue to do my best, while producing results for the company.”

What’s the best piece of advice you have for job seekers?
“Shoot your shot. Don’t be afraid to apply for something that you don’t have the nitty gritty experience in. Most skills are transferrable, the “how to” things can be taught, but it’s your teamwork, your personality, how you operate, that can’t be taught, and that is your most valuable resource.”

What’s the best piece of advice you have for businesses who are hiring?
Don’t be afraid to take a risk on candidates who don’t meet all of the expected requirements. There are so many potential candidates out there that are either in a career transition or are still figuring out what they want to do.

What’s a fun fact or something you want people to know about you?
“I have been to 48/50 states!”

Monica Brendel-Marsh
Senior Executive Recruiter + Marketing Manager | Perm Division
LGC employee since June 3, 2019

What was I doing before LGC?
“I was finishing my college degree and working on my 35th year with Denny’s (25 years of management).”

Talk briefly about your LGC journey:
“I started out as an Executive Recruiter in 2019, was promoted to Sr. Recruiter in 2020, and recently was promoted to Sr Recruiter/Marketing Manager in 2021. My goal is to be a traveling recruiter for the company and help train other employees.”

What past work experience or characteristics do you have that make you successful on the perm team?
“My Denny’s background with restaurants, and my success as a hospitality leader for 8 different stores at a time has given me great insight to the hospitality industry.”

What’s the best piece of advice you have for job seekers?
That it’s important to stay in communication with us as recruiters, so we can work with the client and make the hiring steps go smoothly. I also suggest providing a backup number in case I cannot get ahold of the candidate.”

What’s the best piece of advice you have for businesses who are hiring?
“Please get back to us within a few hours about candidate to set the interview up, so we are engaged with them.”

What’s a fun fact or something you want people to know about you?
“I love cars, especially sports cars. My family and I have shown sports cars in the past. We have passion for them!”
