At LGC, having the opportunity to give back to our community is something that’s really important to us. During the holidays especially, we like to connect with organizations that work to make the world a better place, especially during a tough year.

We’re so thankful to have finished out 2020 by donating to two organizations that represent a key part of the LGC brand: family. Below, we share information about these non-profits and how you can get involved.

Ronald McDonald House (RMH) in Indianapolis

RMH mission is to “provide a supportive home away from home for families of children receiving medical care at Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health and other area hospitals.” Families can stay at RMH for no cost or a small donation and are provided with meals and snacks, washer and dryer, and other amenities that make their stay a little less uncomfortable.

In addition to the impact Ronald McDonald House has on those who use its service, this charity is particularly close to us because a member of our corporate team has personal experience with them. In 2003, Brianna’s brother Jameson was born with complications, and her family stayed at RMH house for a period while he was in the ICU at Riley Hospital. Brianna had this to say about her experience: While the stress of how sick Jameson was was horrible, because of the RMH we had a little bit of peace throughout our time. Riley Hospital is an amazing hospital and is the reason my brother is alive, but Ronald McDonald House and the wonderful things they provide are often forgotten, and we’re grateful to them.”

Operation Underground Railroad (OUR)

The second charity we worked with was Operation Underground RailroadHere’s a little bit about OUR: “Since being founded in December 2013, we’ve gathered the world’s experts in extraction operations and in anti-child trafficking efforts to bring an end to child slavery. O.U.R.’s Ops Team consists of former CIA, past and current law enforcement, and highly skilled operatives that lead coordinated identification and extraction efforts. These operations are always in conjunction with law enforcement throughout the world.”

Family is such an important aspect of LGC which is why we were eager to help this organization that works tirelessly to save children from dangerous situations. To learn more about Operation Underground Railroad, including volunteer opportunities, click here
