Did you know there’s an entire ‘holiday’ dedicated to putting your feet up and taking a (much deserved) break? That’s right, every year on August 15th is considered National Relaxation Day.

Relaxation is an essential part of importance for overall well-being and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. In our fast-paced, modern world – where stress and demands are abundant – taking time to relax is crucial for both physical and mental health. Here are some key reasons why relaxation is essential:

  1. Stress reduction
  2. Improved physical health
  3. Mental clarity and focus
  4. Emotional balance
  5. Enhanced creativity
  6. Better sleep
  7. Strengthened relationships
  8. Reduced risk of burnout
  9. Increased resilience
  10. Self-care and self-compassion

Here at LGC, we take relaxation seriously because we want to give you our best selves. With August 15th being National Relaxation Day and August being National Wellness Month, some of the LGC team wanted to share how they like to de-stress. Hear from a few of our employees below!

In honor of National Relaxation Day, what’s LGC’s favorite way to relax?

Carson, who works in our Seattle office shares his way relaxing: “When I am not at work I like to spend time at baseball games, soccer games, hiking in mountains, brewery hopping and spending time with family and friends.”

Jamie, who works in our Portland office, says: “My time to myself consists of reading Coleen Hoover books, lots of time on the soccer fields and boating with the family on the Columbia River”.

Jennifer enjoys going to STL baseball games, hosting BBQ’s and being anywhere near water. When it gets a little colder out. She enjoys all the fall essentials, hiking, bonfires and getting cozy with a book. Jennifer works in our STL office.

Tiffany, who works in our corporate office says, “I like unwinding by taking walks with my dog Luna and hanging with friends”.

Kelsie who also works in our corporate office likes binge watching her favorite shows and spoils herself with self-care. Her form of self-care is getting tattoos.

Cat, out of Chicago, likes to relax by cracking open a book at the beach in the summer or in front of the fireplace in the winter.

Incorporating relaxation into our daily lives is essential for maintaining overall health and happiness. Whether it’s through meditation, yoga, spending time in nature, reading, or pursuing hobbies, finding activities that promote relaxation can significantly improve our well-being and quality of life. Whether it’s National Relaxation Day or not, how do you like to relax?
