“One winner. 42 losers. I eat losers for breakfast”

It’s Indy 500 weekend! Race fans it’s your time to shine! I’m a huge fan of a good race, and by good race I mean the Piston Cup from Pixar’s Cars.

Picture this, it’s your rookie debut in a 500-lap race. You’re so close to crossing that finish line first, but instead it ends in a 3-way-tie. You’re given 1 week to get across the country to Los Angeles for the tie breaking race. So, you set off with the goal of driving from Motor City (Nashville, TN, likely) to Los Angeles all in one night. Let’s fast forward…suddenly you find yourself 20 miles off the highway in a little town called Radiator Springs without your trailer, alone, in a jail cell after running frantically the night before and destroying their road. Before you are allowed to leave the town, you are sentenced to fixing the road.

What does this have to do with LGC? In my first week with the company, I was asked to write about how I understood staffing from the perspective of someone new to the field. Using one of my favorite movies, I have come to understand the work of a staffing company better.

At the original hearing of Lightning McQueen, the judge is ready to throw him out of the town immediately. That ruling is unjust according to Sally Carerra, the resident lawyer of the town. So, she convinces everyone that for the good of the town, McQueen should fix the road. Fixing the road will not only do good for the business of the town, but it will put McQueen’s ego in check and force him to take responsibility for his actions.

The result? A beautiful road, life-long friendships, a fantastic business partnership, and valuable business for the town.

So, how does this relate to staffing? Our clients have a need. Whether it be for a temporary opportunity, a permanent position, or something in between, like Radiator Springs, they are looking for people to help them out and find someone to do the job. Thus, LGC hears their call and dips into our extensive network to find the right person for the job.

As for our candidates, they parallel the Lightning McQueen who finishes the road the right way.  All he needed was someone to meet him where he was at and believe he could do it. Along the way he also discovered the one thing his life was really missing: friendship.

From start to finish, our candidates will be face-to-face with a recruiter. Whether it’s a call, an interview, or the day of an event on-site, our team cares about our candidates. When candidates are placed in a position, it is after consideration of their skills, availability, and what they want in a company. So, our team believes that each person is equipped with the ability to perform amazing work where they are intentionally placed. It might lead to a really great relationship with the other people on the job or with one of the recruiters!

In the end, staffing is all about building a bridge between candidates and clients. We are so lucky to have built great relationships with both our clients and candidates over the years. Like Lightning McQueen eventually learned, good things take time, but hard work pays off in the end.

Our process is simple. No “turning right to go left,” just give us a call and we’ll get you set up!
